Patterned Imprinted Concrete
Patterned imprinted concrete (PIC) is a groundbreaking skilled technique. This technique adds patterns and colours to concrete freshly poured on patios, driveways, and paths. This creates the authentic look of stone, slate, or timber. This process eliminates the high price of natural products.
Minimal Maintenance
Patterned concrete is an exclusive product that requires very little maintenance. It performs well over other products like flagstones or tarmac. Many problems are eliminated with a four-inch fibre reinforced concrete and a dolomite base. These problems can be attributed to other products, such as sinking and weeds. You will also encounter problems with block paving, woodrot, and pest control when you have wooden decked patio areas.

What is Pattern Imprinted Concrete?
Simply put, pattern concrete (also known by stamped concrete) involves pouring concrete over a subbase, then applying a colour followed by a hardener. This is a new way to make concrete, unlike traditional concreting which used blocks to make your finish.
The pattern is applied after the concrete has drained. You can choose from many different prints, such as brickwork or textured stone. Patterned concrete is an attractive choice for domestic properties, particularly when it comes to lining driveways.
Good quality print
The quality of the printed cement is what you should be focusing on. Laying fresh concrete takes extreme care and dedication. Otherwise, the concrete will become inconsistent and cause a poor floor.
In most cases, contractors would use six to eight rigid printing matsa along with one flexible mat in each set. It is necessary to use six mats to span the narrowest section. However, flexible mats are used to access and to print areas that rigid mats won’t.
The majority of printing mats come in 600 x 600mm. But, there is some flexibility with matt size. All you have to do is decide how big you want them and then find the best prices.
Colour Consistency
When installing imprinted concrete, it is important to keep in mind the color consistency to ensure your flooring achieves what you want. Colour surface hardener is the main component of patterned concrete. Antique release agents are also important.
The final result will be poor if the colour top coater is not applied correctly or it isn’t sufficient. This is especially true for larger commercial jobs like retail shop flooring.
It may take several concrete deliveries for big commercial jobs. This could result in slight colour variations in each concrete mix. The purpose of the surface hardener is to match the colours together after they have been applied. This is especially useful for larger jobs that may take several days.
Ensuring Long-Term Durability
The sub-stone base material must be combined with the subgrade (the subgrade, which could be soil, stones, etc.) to ensure that concrete floors will not crack.
A concrete mix is also important in ensuring structural integrity will remain strong for many years.
This is especially important in areas that receive high traffic such as driveways or multi-storey garages.
Reduce the Chance of the Concrete Cracking
For driveways made of patterned concrete, you must have at most 300kgs of cement per cubic yard.
Colder conditions will require you to consume 350-380 kgs.
To increase the floor’s durability, resistance to weather and wear, you can add an air entertaining agent.
Reducing Maintenance & Maximising Results
A solvent-based acrylic sealant can be applied to patterned concrete once it has dried. This will improve its appearance. Water-based acrylics pose a greater problem for patterned concrete so they should be avoided.
For a beautiful appearance, sealant should be applied every four to five years.
While it’s not required, this will help to keep your driveway (or any other place where our patterned concrete has been installed) looking fantastic for many years.
